Presidential Race in Focus

Earlier this week, Vice President Harris announced that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz would join the Democratic ticket as the candidate for Vice President. As the campaign strategy is developed, the hope of Democrats is that as a midwestern governor, Walz can help insure wins in key states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and of course his home state of Minnesota.

Walz served 12 years in the U.S. House prior to his run for Governor. Before getting into politics, Governor Walz was a teacher and football coach at the high school level. He is an outdoors sportsman and served in the National Guard for 24 years.

The Democratic ticket has already been on the road for rallies in some of the key states and will be officially recognized at the Democratic Convention to be held in Chicago August 19 to 22.

After the week opening with attention on the new Democratic ticket, former President Trump held a press conference at his Florida home and announced that he would participate in three debates; however, Vice President Harris only agreed to meet him at the previously announced debate on September 10 on the ABC network. To date she has not accepted the Fox News debate announced for September 4, and the “debate over the debates” is likely to be part of the Presidential campaign strategy for both major party candidates.
