The Congress returns this week with most of the headlines on the ongoing bipartisan talks to try and find a compromise package on gun control and the beginning of hearings on the 1/6/2021 attack on the Capitol.

Senate to act on final Fed nominee

The Fed currently has six of its seven authorized Governors, and last week the Senate Banking Committee announced its intention to vote on the nomination of Michael Barr to become the seventh Governor and serve as Vice Chair for Supervision.  The only suspense is whether there will be any Republicans voting in favor of Barr. However, his confirmation became a near certainty when swing Senator Joe Manchin announced his support of Barr.

The Committee vote is now scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, and once it clears the Committee, the next step will be a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
