Crypto Chat: What does EIP-1559 mean for Ethereum?
Carrie & Will chat about the Ethereum network and the recent EIP-1559 upgrade. Will explains EIP (Ethereum Improvement Proposal) - 1559, which took place on the Ethereum network on August 5, 2021 as part of the "London Hard Fork" upgrades. Currently, users must bid for how much they’re willing to pay in transaction fees to miners, which is oftentimes less transparent and more volatile. EIP-1559 incorporates an automated bidding system with a set fee amount that fluctuates based on how congested the network is. Additionally, fees paid in Ether are burned, which decreases supply. *Recorded August 10, 2021

Fireside Chat: The Infrastructure Bill & Crypto with Tom Block and Sean Farrell (August 6, 2021)
We had the opportunity to meet with Tom Block, FSInsight’s Washington and Policy Strategist, along with Sean Farrell, our VP of Digital Assets. There’s been an overlap this week between The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, that Tom Block has been reporting on, and a new provision that could have implications on the crypto industry. 1) Sean clarifies the provision addressing crypto and how it could impact the industry. 2) There have been multiple amendments introduced, some clarifying the definition of a broker, other’s omitting Proof of Work crypto, and some “striking” the whole provision altogether. Tom Block shares his insight and experience in Washington, how amendments work & what are some possible ways this could play out over the weekend. 3) In Washington, is this something Tom has seen before, a controversial issue slipped into a bill like this? 4) Sean addresses crypto metrics and how they are responding to the news. Are we seeing crypto assets moving from wallets/exchanges to cold storage, in an attempt to avoid any tax implications?

Is Wall Street Going Bankless? Podcast with David Grider
Is Wall Street going Bankless? What do they know about crypto? We bring on David Grider of FSInsight to answer these important questions for us. If an asset is legitimate, it will inevitably end up on Wall Street, the heart-center of global finance. David embodies the growing bridge from traditional finance to crypto, and he sees the space as increasingly on the radar of high-level investors. Crypto should be understood as making the internet an emerging market. For David, the tipping point came as crypto boasted a trillion-dollar market cap. The finance space is not uniform, and some spheres have been more quick to adapt and adopt than others. As crypto becomes more standardized and accepted, it will be easier to continue this trend in accordance with the Lindy effect – the idea that life expectancy decreases over time with things like technology and concepts. A general willingness to adopt must also be paired with necessary technologies and infrastructure to support custody and investment vehicles, and these things take time. Wall Street is starting to recognize changes in the current monetary regime, and trailblazers like FSInsight are making this change more real and accessible.
